Murphy Review - A complex vision of the coming of the ever famous wizard Merlin. The book is a very realistic fantasy of how Merlin found out his powerful, destructive strength, his past, his relatives and, most importantly, his name. A very unpredictable thrill ride. I await T.A. Barron s return in the second book.

bad writing - I was exited to read this book as I thought it was an interesting premise. However I was disappointed. The story line was flawed and characters were introduced for no apparent reason. Conflict was resolved in a confusing and simplistic fashion.

Absolutely #1 - I extremely hope this review will get posted (a lot of mine haven t). Anyhow, I read this book when it was first released and have since then waited (impatiently I might add) for the next ones. I can t tell which of the 4 is better, as a matter of fact I ve only read the 1st 2 (waiting for paperback editions). These are absolutley the BEST books ever written. They by-pass Harry Potter by a long shot. Barron was ingenious to put it in 1st person. But what really got me was the inward as well as outward struggle. When you see Merlin, you think of a powerful wizard which nothing can effect. These books tell that differently and explain a lot of things in his earlier life. THEY ARE THE BEST BOOKS FOR ANYONE OF ANY AGE.....BUY THEM NOW!

Arthurian Legend Gets a Wonderful New Spin - I met TA Barron at a book signing, where he read the first passage from this book, and he told it in a way that gave me goosebumps. This master storyteller has taken a legend that has been retold and retold and retold and put his own fabulous spin on it, making it seem fresh and new. The characters, no matter how fantastic their powers may be, seem real, as if you ve known them for a long time and they re telling you about something that happened to them. The language sounds like the master storytellers of old, rich and lyrical and delicious. The plot is exciting and you can t stop reading once you ve started. This is some of the best fantasy out there. Don t miss out on it.

Fincayra here I come! - This was a great book! I m really glad that somebody finally wrote a book about Merlin as a kid. After having the accident with his powers, (wich cost him his sight) Emrys is desperate to find out who he really is and where he s from. He leaves his home and starts searching for his home, with the aid of his second sight. After a long sea trip he arrives at Fincayra. Fincayra is a magicial place with talking trees, giant spiders, warrior goblins and many more odd things. Emrys heads towards The Shrouded castle with Rhia, Shim and Truoble. The book was awesome! Very interesting and exciting. I recommend this book to any fantasy lover or any other reader for that matter! Go to the store and buy it. You will love it!
